Typical 6 Day Aosta Valley Hut Tour

Day 1
The late morning group meet is in the Roman city of Aosta, located in the very heart of the Aosta valley. From here, we will head to our evening retreat located in the stunning remote alpine village of St Jacques. It will be a laid back afternoon slated to get the  group ready to roll with bike set up and a short spin to check it all works. Here, the marvels of good food and a quiet setting will re-charge your travel weary body.
Night in a local hotel in St Jacques.

Day 2
Following a typical outstanding breakfast, we'll warm up the legs and the bikes with a great ride down valley on some mellow single tracks before taking on our first climb over the ridge line into the Valtourneche valley and yet another epic descent right into the charming alpine village of Chamois.
Night in an authentic mountain hut located just outside of town.

Climb: <800m
Descent: 2200m - 20+km trails

Day 3
After a wholesome typical Val d'Aosta breakfast, today will have some epic riding and the scenery to match - including the world famous Matterhorn.
We start by riding back up the Tournenche Valley using some old trails, through small hamlets and villages until we reach the town of Valtournenche. From here we get a much deserved break and use a series of lifts to gain access to the high mountains and glaciers that dominate the ski resort of Breuil Cervinia.
What follows is a massive downhill into Cervinia, all the while the view is dominated by the towering Matterhorn - or Cervino as it is referred to in Italian.   A short caffè break and then we ride the lifts once again for our final surprise - a night in a true mountain hut located on the border of Italy and Switzerland at over 3300m !
Here an incredible evening of delicious Italian food and celebration as we sleep on one of the highest passes of the Alps. One of the absolute highlights of the week.

Day 4
This morning you will be greeted with an amazing sunrise in front of the towering Matterhorn. As the sun rises and lights up the surrounding peaks and glaciers you will feel very alive.
Our stunning day gets started first with a bit of traversing, followed by a long descent. We will go through all types of alpine stages from the rough, lifeless alpine tundra to pine laden forests and lakes to finally reach Cervinia. Following the mandatory caffè, we'll continue to ride all the way down to the valley floor.
From there a Transfer will bring us to Saint Barthelemy, where we’ll have to pedal a bit more before reaching the next refuge.

Day 5
Yet another adventure awaits us - today we start off casually with a shuttle to the top of the famous Grand Saint Bernard pass - where we will also have a quick visit of not only the famous St Bernard dogs but also the incredible monastery or hospice is an absolute must see. This world famous building has been dated back to early 800's - yes that's right it's over 1300 years old.
Following our visit we have some riding to do. We'll get started with a little single track action and then follow it up with an incredible downhill into the village of St Oyen for the evening.
Tonight will be another special evening with a typical val d'aosta meal.
Night in an auberge.
